Candidate Security Guidance and Experiences of Intimidation 2026 - LGA

Overview

This survey is designed to explore (1) your experience accessing and using the security guidance provided during the recent local elections and (2) your experiences of intimidation during the election period.

The data collected will inform decision making around how to make future iterations of security guidance as effective and accessible as possible as well as better understanding candidate experiences of intimidation.

Please respond by Midnight 14/06/2026.

For candidates in Wales, you are invited to complete the survey in Welsh instead if you would prefer. Click this link

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to answer. There is a 'back' button to review previous answers and a 'first' button which allows you to go back to the first question in the survey. Please note that you have to complete all mandatory questions on the page before using the 'first' or back' buttons. You can also save your answers and come back to them later.

Your responses will provide crucial information to ensure the effectiveness of guidance in future election periods. We know how busy you are and very much appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey.

This survey is being conducted by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and has been distributed to candidates who stood in elections in England, Scotland and Wales. Please contact us at JESP@communities.gov.uk if you have any questions. We will endeavour to respond to all queries, but please be aware that our capacity may be limited.
