Local Authority Housing Fund Round 3 - Expression of Interest

Closes 17 Jan 2025

Opened 20 Dec 2024

Overview

The Local Authority Housing Fund Round 3 (LAHF R3) will provide over £450 million in capital grants in 2024/25 and 2025/26 to support local authorities to obtain better quality temporary accommodation and provide safe and suitable housing for those on afghan resettlement schemes who are unable to secure their own housing.

In anticipation of opportunities to reallocate funding from the existing budget, we are contacting all local authorities to invite expressions of interest to claim this funding. In keeping with LAHF R3 objectives, the funding will:

The minimum delivery requirement for allocation to any LA is 1 property for the R3 resettlement element and 1 property for the TA.

  • support local authorities to acquire good quality, and better value for money Temporary Accommodation (TA) for families owed a homelessness duty. This will reduce the usage of B&B accommodation and will enable local authorities to grow their housing stock, creating sustainable assets to help manage local housing pressures.
  • continue to provide resettlement housing for those on the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) and the Afghan Relocations and Assistance (ARAP) scheme. We expect these homes to become available to support wider local authority general housing and homelessness responsibilities after the resettlement needs of the eligible cohort have been addressed.

Grants awarded following this EOI process will be calculated based on the Grant Rate section of the LAHF R3 prospectus.

All delivery proposals should be based on delivering the fund objectives as described at section 2.1 of the Prospectus and the grant per unit set out in your allocation email.
