Consultation on the Building Safety Levy 2022
Overview
This consultation seeks views on the technical details and implementation of the Building Safety Levy (hereinafter the levy), which will apply to new residential buildings requiring building control approval in England, for the purpose of meeting building safety expenditure.
This levy was announced in February 2021 to ensure the taxpayer does not pay for the necessary remediation of buildings safety defects.
The body responsible for the consultation is the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).
Duration: This consultation will last for 10 working weeks from 22nd November 2022 to 7th February 2023.
Why your views matter
This consultation seeks views and evidence on the high-level design principles of the levy. Results of this consultation will inform final decisions on the operational design of the levy and the secondary legislation which will specify the details of the levy. It will also inform an impact assessment of the levy.
